There’s nothing like a project! My garage, built by Max (@newformdevelopments to house his beloved buggy, then taken over by Jacques @cutoncewoodworks to do up his Audi, was suddenly empty. So rather than let it be filled up with junk, I decided to turn it into what my mother used to call a sunroom.
I’ve written several articles about greenhouses for the Telegraph this year, and started to think I’d quite like a space to overwinter tender plants, propagate cuttings and seedlings and just hang out on cooler days.
Enter Jacques in carpenter mode. He and Matt replaced the onduline with see-through roofing on the sunny side of the roof, clad the walls inside with fibreboard and installed a French window in place of the side door. I’m waiting for the glazier and painting the windows with my usual colour and the floor with concrete paint.
I have a scaff board work surface, am waiting for a slatted bed/chair to be delivered by Ikea, and John Ruler @vinret1 is supplying old dexion shelving. I have ambitions too, so follow my instagram @francinehens to see how things develop.
